On the blog today I have the fabulous Téa Cooper, telling us about her five favourite things.
Oh this isn’t as easy as I thought it would be…I’ve got lots of favourite things. I’ll start with the book – it’s a toss up between my Thesaurus and Lord of the Rings.
Then there is my coffee machine and my Mac book pro. They kind of go hand in hand. Mac is looking a bit ‘used’ these days. I dropped him on the terracotta tiles when I tripped over Poppy (see fourth favourite thing) but amazingly Mac survived, just a bit bent around the edges.
And then there’s Wollombi Museum – that’s definitely one of my favourite things. It’s this wonderful place full of other peoples lives and stories and I always come away from there with my notebook bulging. (see fifth favourite thing).
So my fourth favourite “thing” is Poppy. She keeps me sane, listens to every single word I write and always loves everything, especially if it accompanied by a pat.
And my fifth favourite thing(s) are my notebooks. I write directly onto the computer but for all those sudden ideas, snippets of research and super overheard bits of dialogue I have to have a notebook. My darling daughter, who I can’t really list as a ‘thing’ but is very favourite, buys them for me. Here’s the latest crop – even a glittery one for the sexy bits. So cool!
And I’ll leave you with her lovely cover for Matilda’s Freedom, a fabulous Australian set historical
Matilda has lost everything, so it feels like a miracle when Christopher Matcham turns up, offering her security, a place to stay, and a position as companion to his teen-aged sisters. Though Christopher likes her fresh outlook and unusual ideas, his family view her as a threat. Christopher has responsibilities – and those include a good marriage that will improve the family’s connections and finances. After all, love is just for the lower classes.
